about the process...

Our candles are poured in small batches in East Tennessee, nestled in the foothills of the Smokies. Toby, our shop's furry mascot (and Instagram star), can usually be found closely supervising the day's activities. We do all of our label design, scent creation, and packaging in house. Our goal was to design a candle that was eco-friendly, smelled amazing, and was pretty to look at. Each candle is customized with a unique blend of natural and fragrance oils and eco-friendly soy wax that not only looks beautiFUL, but burns cleanly. We only use 100% soy wax because (unlike paraffin which is a petroleum byproduct), it's a natural, renewable resource. It cleans up easily with soap + water and is healthier for you and the environment. For more details visit our FAQ page.

 

about the name...

The name is a nod to the “glass half full” expression. After a back injury forced a career change, the decision to make the most of a tough situation and try something new, resulted in the birth of FUL Candles. Looking at the glass as half full instead of half empty is definitely an ongoing practice. One that we’re reminded of with every -ful name on our candle. Life can still be joyFUL, beautiFUL, peaceFUL, even in the hard moments. We’re so grateful we can help you celebrate the happy times and remind you in the not so great ones, that they won’t last forever.

about me...

Hi! I’m Laura: candle maker, dog snuggler, and brownie connoisseur. I went to school for graphic design but after a spine injury and torn hip labrum earned me a few new screws and scars, I had to pivot. Sitting in a desk chair was no longer feasible, so on a whim I started playing with wax. I made candles for friends and family. It was still creatively fulfilling, but way better on my healing body. After several months, it grew from a hobby into a business. I got messages from people who were gifted candles for birthdays, or during chemo, or to celebrate wedding showers. Shops started contacting me to carry our line. And 10 years later, we're still spreading as much joy as possible.
